Question

layered .tif files hanging up at 99%

I'm having issues with my .tif files hanging up for 11, 12 sec at 99% when saving. This might not seem like a lot but the volume at which I work it is adding 4 plus hours to my work day. The issue seems to disappear if I flatten my file first but I need to retain my layers for my work flow. Can anyone help with this?

Is ZIP compression on for TIFF? I think that might greatly extend the save time, especially the last few percent. I use ZIP with TIFFs to save space, but it’s sloooow.

I read that, but I'm saving with LZW compression but try with no compression and both hang up at 99% during the save.

So it stalls even with uncompressed tiffs? What about PSD/PSB?

Just so it's said, LZW was written for 8 bit data and does not work well on 16 bit data, where it will often increase file size, not reduce it.

Are you saving directly to an external drive? That is officially warned against by Adobe.

Save to local drive, then copy over.

It happens even when saving to my desktop.
