Layers panel has disappeared PS 22.1.1 Mac

I was working a file and I could see the layers and use the layers. After saving and closing and reopening the file, my layers panel has disappeared. The Layers Panel under the Window menu tab is checked and Isolate Layers under the Select menu tab is not checked. Layers are not showing up in any other file even the background layer. Help...
