Question

Libraries Panel

Please advise -

If I understand correctly, Adobe Photoshop CC is not longer continuing the availability of the Library Panel function.

I use the library panel to hold my Watermark graphic , as I complete my edits on a photo, I drag from library to the photo, creating a new layer on the photo.

Where would I place the graphic  that I can easily "grab" it  as a new layer to the photo in edit

I know I can save it in a seperate folder, that is cumbersome at best.

Help would be appreciated, I am not a power user by any means.

Lately, PS Libraries often fail to load, "something went wrong initializing Creative Cloud Libraries", only way to have it work is to shut down PS and restart.

Running Windows 10, PS 25.4.0

Thanks

CTS

Creative Cloud Libraries are not being discontinued.

Adobe is discontinuing Creative Cloud Files, which is a different synced file service that doesn’t affect Libraries.

If you re-read the latest statements from Adobe, like this one (“Discontinuation of Creative Cloud Synced files”), it says:

quote

Adobe continues to offer and support cloud storage and syncing across Creative Cloud with Cloud Documents, Creative Cloud Libraries, Lightroom Cloud storage, and Frame.io cloud storage. None of these cloud storage solutions are impacted by this change.

So that’s what it says. Libraries are not affected by this change.

The error you are seeing, “something went wrong initializing Creative Cloud Libraries,” is a different problem unrelated to the discontinuation of Creative Cloud Files. I have seen that error too, but unfortunately I don’t know what causes it except for a temporary problem with the network. When it happens to me, it usually clears itself up later. So I just wait a bit and try again later.

But if you consistenly see that error, reply here and maybe someone else will have a better idea about the error than I do.

Thank You,

Typically my internet speeds are upwards of 800mbps, although at times I have found low as 75mbps - provider has installed new modem, pulled new cable from street to house, all house connections and wire are checked and approved by internet provider and tested.   Ethernet connections.  Issue does not seem to be internet related on this end, maybe a server issue?

Library issue seems to be quite regular at times, only way to resolve is shut down the programs, restart.

I also find with PS 25.4.0  - program is much slower in processing, freezes up at times.  I attribute to larger files sizes as RAW are large - some in the 35mb ranges.   I usually have Bridge open at the same time so that may also contribute to the issues?

I have reverted to PS 22.3 for a while, see if it is more compatible/ less problematic?

Running Windows 10, 64 bit, Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-6700 CPU @ 3.40GHz 3.41 GHz and 16Gb Ram.

Would I need to upgrade system, recommendations?  Processor, Ram?
