Question

Line around edge of selection

I often see a faint line around a selected object when I add it to a document.  It doesn't seem to matter which selection method I use.  If I activate the layer mask I can remove it with the brush tool.  This can be tiresome in an image with many layers and sometimes they don't show up immediately but can appear on zoom in or zoom out..

Is there some way to avoid this?

Hey, @Redhartotter. Welcome to the Photoshop Community. I'll move this to discussions for now. Please share the system info from Photoshop Help > System info > Copy and paste into a text document > Upload and attach here.

Does this persist at a specific zoom % level? Does this appear just as a visual glitch on the canvas, or even in your exported images? Could you try disabling GPU compositing? Here's how you can do it:

  1. Go to Edit in the top menu.
  2. Select Preferences, then Performance.
  3. Click on Advanced Settings.
  4. Uncheck the GPU Compositing option.

After doing this, restart Photoshop and see if the issue exists. If it doesn't help, try Photoshop (beta) from the Creative Cloud App > Apps tab > Beta apps.

Let me know how it goes.

Thanks!

'@' Sameer, thank you very much.  I haven't had time to try this but next time I prepare a document with imported layers I will give it a go. I have screen-grabbed your answer.
