Line Spacing Error

Suddenly today when I try to change the line spacing of text in Photoshop, it doesn't do it and gives me wild range errors. For instance, trying to set the line spacing to 40pt, I'll get a pop up that says "A value between 65.16 Points and 21474836.47 Points is required." Any idea how to fix this? Resetting the character, rebooting the program, etc has not helped.

    Hi @Hamlet Q. Crowley,

Thanks for reporting this. That specific error range usually indicates that Photoshop is calculating a minimum leading value, and the value you’re entering falls below that computed minimum.

Please try the following in the same order after selecting the text layer:

    • In the Character panel, click the hamburger menu and choose Reset Character

    • Check that the font size and vertical scale are set to the expected values

    • Try setting the leading to a value slightly above the minimum shown (e.g., 66 pt), then gradually reduce

    If the issue continues:

    • Create a new blank document

    • Add fresh text using a default system font (e.g., Myriad)

    • Test if the same range error appears

If it only happens with a specific file, it may be a document-specific issue. If it happens in new documents as well, please share:

    • Your Photoshop version (Help > System Info)

    • Your operating system version

    • Whether this started after a recent update

    • Screenshot or screen recording leading up to that error.

    • Sample PSD file

Once we have that, we can investigate further.

    Regards,
