Linked vector Smart Object moves in Photoshop after updating smart object. Video linked.

This has been an issue for years, possibly in all the three major programs I use no matter how they are linked whether I place an illustrator file into PSD, the PSD file into Illustrator, both into InDesign. Attemped embedding the smart object and it still moved! This doesn't just happen when I "hide" a layer. That just happens to be what I needed to do this time.

I end up making guides to repostion the file as shown at the end of the video example.

ANYONE else have this issue?

If you posted the video via email it didn't make it through.

What did you do in Illustrator before updating the link? Was there any change to the size/bounding area of the Ai file?

@Stephen Marsh a link to the video that was too large.

In this case, all I did was hide a layer.

The image is a map with data that must be placed in an exact location. I have a layer in illustrator with the US states to make sure the data is aligned, when I open up the smart object (in Illlustrator),
I hide the US states layer, close. The entire layer moves once it updates in Photoshop. If I go back into illustrator and show/turn the layer back on, it will snap back... but I can't keep that layer on.

I end up setting up a ruler alignment to reposition it.
