Question

Loading Photoshop - alt tab

Has anyone at Adobe stressed tested opening Photoshop and having the window lose focus - like Alt tab to another window?

In the three or so incidents where Photoshop has failed to load properly (having to end task from the task Manager) I think this might be the cause.

Just sayin’

    Hey, @Ghoul Fool. Thanks for bringing this up. Is this a new behavior you've noticed? Do you use any 3rd party plugins?

    Holding the ALT key at launch should prompt the File > Open dialog.

    Does Photoshop crash? If it does, check the Event Viewer on Windows and see if any crash logs are present under Windows Logs > Application.

    Thanks!

    @Sameer K

    Been using Photoshop for decades - no exaggeration, Once in a blue moon the preferences get corrupted and PS won’t load properly.

    This isn’t it. I have noticed that it just hangs open loading about three times in the last six months. I remember seeing the black of the rounded corners of the Photoshop splash screen as I alt tabbed from a browser back to Photoshop - which lead me to the idea that might be causing the problem.

    To answer your question more specifically Photoshop doesn’t crash (and disappear)  it just doesn’t fully load properly - it just hangs there forever. Trying to loading.

    Thanks for sharing the update. I see, that can happen for a variety of reasons. We can find what went wrong if we can recreate this, or somehow record a series of steps that trigger launch failure(s).

    It will be challenging to track and resolve this without either of those approaches.

    Thanks!
