Looks great in PS but gets dark when saved as a PNG.

What causes this - it's happened several times over the years and I've never understood what causes this.

Left side is PS right is PNG.

I've tried saving with and without color option checked and it still comes out darker.

@CSI Productions How are you saving as PNG? Save as, save for web, etc. and what color profiles are used in the working file and what is available when you save?
