Question

Maintain aspect ratio not working

Maintain aspect ratio when trying to change image size is not working, with or without shift, and the option of "use legacy free transform" is on.

no matter how much I click on Maintain aspect ratio, once I try to transform the image its turning off,

it works only when i try to transform it from the meeting points but not from the sides or top/bottom.

Also, when I transform from the meeting point that works its not snapping to guides although the option is on too...

Its all  valid for all elements like text, smart objects and etc. not only for images

Please help, I tried eveything

Hi @IreneShteyngardt This is a known bug. Turn off Use Legacy Free Transform in preferences and then grab the Side/Top/Bottom and drag. It should scale proportionately. Turning ON Legacy Free Transform breaks the Sides/Top/Bottom breaks the proportionate with Shift (and from center using Alt/Opt) features.

Hey, @IreneShteyngardt. Welcome to the Photoshop Community. I'll help you figure this out.

What version of Photoshop are you working on?

I've moved the thread from bugs to discussions for now. The Maintain aspect ratio button isn't sticky when you use Free Transform in the legacy mode. Try disabling in 'Use legacy free transform' & restart Photoshop.

Let me know how it goes. Thanks!
