Marque Tool Backspace

When using the marque tool I'd be able to hit backspace and the inside part of the tool would revert back to what was on the first layer. It suddenly stopped a week ago, now hitting backspace does nothing. I updated it today to the newest version, and still no luck. I've tried reseting prefrences and still nothing. Windows 10.
