Question

Move tool auto select only selects adjustment layer

V27 on iOS Sequoia M1 MacBook Pro

The move tool auto select is only selecting the top adjustment layer which makes the tool useless. The keyboard shortcut to toggle auto select on/off doesn't work, either. Everything is working correctly on my windows machine. All the settings appear to be the same.

Any suggestions?

One other idea since it works on your Windows computer. Try resetting the Move tool.

Select the Move tool in the options bar (not toolbar) > right-click > reset tool

Resetting Preferences might work, but I hesitate to recommend it this early.

I keep AutoSelect off and do one of the following:

  • Select the layer manually in the Layers panel (with Auto Select off)
  • Command+Click in image to select the layer where there are pixels (which isn't working for you)
  • Right-click to see a shortcut list of all the layers directly under the pixel where you right-clicked.
Best practice is to name layers. This method could be confusing if your layers are named Layer 1, Layer 2, Layer 1 copy, etc.
If you don't have a two-button mouse, use Control+Click to get the context sensitive menu.

Will any of these work for you?

Press the Commade Key while selecting the layer.
