Is this right? → NeoWin

Which version of the PS supports this feature, and when will it be released? Does this work on Windows 11 25H2? Do users need to change any settings in the app, or will it be applied automatically?

OS: Windows 11 25H2 Build 26200.7840 (x64)

Ps: 2026 27.7.0.11

I don’t have a background in computer science, so I may be missing something. But from a user’s perspective, this doesn’t really make any sense. The standard Photoshop functions, as executed by the CPU, isn’t a bottleneck and never has been. The only source given for alleged “sluggishness” is one single reddit thread.

If people do see performance bottlenecks, they are mostly GPU related, so it would appear to be more in the GPU maker’s court than in Microsoft’s. And in most of those cases, it’s either an old/underpowered GPU, or a configuration issue with dual GPUs in laptops.

In short, I’m taking this with a grain of salt. It looks to me like a solution in search of a problem.

Dag, have you seen the threads about what they are calling ‘The Evolution of Photoshop’?  They are rebuilding the core making much more use of the GPU, so it will be even more important to focus on the GPU when buying hardware for future versions of Photoshop.   (links at the top of the page)
