Multiple features in photoshop... busted; form to file support ticket... busted
I'm getting pretty frustrated. For what it's worth I am running Win 11 and I think Photoshop 2026 but how can I know because Help / About Photoshop is greyed out.
For what I pay for Adobe Creative Cloud quality seems shoddy and I know y'all want me to spend $100's worth of my time researching things (can I send you an invoice? should I take you to small claims court? is that even allowed in the clickwrap contract?) and filing bug reports and without any SLA I'm not sure it is better than talking to the hand. I know I should be more polite than this and it isn't cool to air dirty laundry in public but see (3)
Here are three things that have me frustrated now:
(1) If I am in the Windows Explorer and click on an image (say JPEG) to open it in Photoshop, Photoshop is listed as an application to open it in but I click on it and... nothing happens. Expected result is that I click on the image and it opens in Photoshop.
(2) So far as I can tell the Adobe Fonts (like the ones in the business card pack https://fonts.adobe.com/collections/business-card-pack) "just don't work" in Photoshop -- I click on the "T" and then pull down the font dropdown and pick "More fonts" and then it starts getting really really really slow and laggy and then maybe I can pick one font from the list if I am lucky if I am willing to wait 2 or 3 minutes for this thing to get out of it's way I can pick a font. So far so good, I set one line of type with one font.
Now I try it again and I don't know what's wrong with it but it's wrong. I don't know if I can't find the font I am looking for because I picked "Italic" in the other the other dropdown list and the font I am looking for doesn't have "Italic". But what I do know is pretty soon Photoshop locks up hard and I have to kill it in the task manager and I lose work.
Frankly I am pretty traumatized by wasting 30 minutes hoping that I will try it again and get a different result... which is the definition of insanity. So the last thing I want to do is screw with it anymore to file the kind of bug report that won't get closed out out hand.
To Adobe's credit this feature works 100% great in Illustrator and I was able to make the graphic I want in Illustrator but I should have been able to do it with Photoshop.
Expected Result: I am able to look up Adobe Fonts quickly (really I wish instantaneously, I'd tolerate the app being responsive for 10 sec) in Photoshop and use them
Note in my mind this is the same disease Microsoft has in that all of these features are "packed in" and promoted as great benefits that are part of your subscription except they don't work -- second and third tier vendors can somehow get these things to work, but the first vendor just can't do it, like their very market dominance makes them incapable of delivering.
(3) To add insult to injury, or is it injury to insult, I can't file bug reports which is a classic feature of a failing IT organization. Back when it was Central IT at my University one of my co-workers taught me the art of "vendor management", how to do social engineering like Kevin Mitnick to just get very simple things fix because when the trouble ticket system is busted and you can't file tickets you need to work the politics to get anything done. But seriously, I click on Help / Manage My Account in photoshop and there is a "Contact Support" button and clicking on that just makes it look back and reload the Manage My Account page.
There is some way you can supposedly get support by talking to a chatbot but it kept going in circles.
Does the "end my subscription" link in Manage My Account work?
Expected Result: Clicking on that link leads to a form where I can file a ticket privately. For what it is worth I am using the Firefox web browser, I haven't tried Edge or Chrome.
(4) Given that everything else is busted the last thing I want to do is clear some notification about how you are going to have some new experience for me in January which I just had to do on this page. Can't you just fire that Satya Nadella guy?
(5) When I was filing this bug report I got the message: "Your post has been changed because invalid HTML was found in the message body. The invalid HTML has been removed. Please review the message and submit the message when you are satisfied."
Expected result: creating a message in this application should never created unwanted HTML because the applicating created the HTML
Expected Result: I never see unwanted popovers that cover wanted content. Ever. On any web site or in any application.
