Question

My clone stamp is not working properly

Hello, I have PS 2020 (version 21.0.2) and the clone tool is not working correctly. I have reset the tool and that did not solve my problem. When I click on the Clone tool and then click on Alt, the tool starts working like the hand in which it just moves the whole picture. I've never had this happen and I am very frustrated.

Please advise.

Here is a sample of what happens when I try to use the CLONE tool.

I sure wish the Adobe would fix the software on the site so  screen captures will able to be view in detail. Not scale down unusably small.  It look like you are cloning on the background layer. A background layer can not be moved with any hand tool it does not support  transparency.  Are you sure you did not sample the whole layer and what your are seeing is your clone stamp like this. What is the size of you clone stamp tool?

Set a smaller clone stamp size. Add a new empty layer above your image sets sample to current and below or all layers and check aligned.  Use the Alt + click to set sample source.  Clone to the empty layer so you do not  destroy what you currently have.

Aligned not checked below each  click starts a new clone from the sample source

The Clone Stamp size was my problem. Thank you for helping me solve this dilema. I don't know PS well enough to solve these types of problems. So I'm grateful we have this community.
