Question

My PS brush freezes for no reason ALL the time. I must switch between a different screen almost to 'refresh' it. What's going on?

When working in PS, my tools (brush/eraser) stop working and the only way that I can continue to use them is to click into a web browser or Indesign, click on something, and go back to PS. I had been working on an iMac and just bought a new Macbook Pro, and even with the software reinstalled from CC, the error still persists.

Believe me, nothing is selected at the time, and no masks are being used. I'm an illustrator and primarily use the brush and eraser tools. It's a constant frustration when I have to exit out of what I'm doing to 'refresh' my brush.

Does anybody have an idea of what could be going on?

Thanks in advance!

Hi fattiburke,

Sorry that your Photoshop brushes are freezing unexpectedly while editing.

Let's start the troubleshooting with restoring the app preferences to default, Please refer this article for instructions on how to restore Photoshop preferences:

Preferences in Photoshop

Let us know if that helps.

Thanks,

Thanks! I have just reinstalled PS as default today and it's still the same.

I probably should have mentioned that I am working with a Wacom Intuos - perhaps is there a glitch when working with the two together?

Adobe Photoshop CC (20.0.4)

Mac OS Mojave 10.14.2

Macbook Pro 2018 (2.9 GHz Intel Core i9/ 32 GB)

With a Wacom Intuos BT M

Please check that the Wacom device drivers are up to date. Mostly, outdated drivers cause issues like these.
