Hi,

Since recently, any new fonts which i install don't appear in Photoshop unless i restart the application. I have to close all my projects and reopen just to see this new font. It’s a bit annoying !

Thanks for your help !

Photoshop version 26.11.2
Apparently, same issue with Illustrator...

I don’t use any font management software or plugins. I’ve always been able to see newly installed fonts without having to restart the programme; if that weren’t the case, I wouldn’t be posting about this issue on this forum.
In any case, I’ve been having a lot of problems with the software for the past few months: In Photoshop I no longer get a real-time preview when I adjust brightness, contrast, levels – in short, everything found under the Image > Adjustments menu.
I should have stuck with a stable version of the software, i.e. about three or four versions back. That’s why I won’t be testing any beta versions.
    Thanks anyway

Thanks for the clarification. The original issue is still unidentified, and for the UI issues you’re seeing, try going to Photoshop > Settings > Technology Preview > uncheck ‘Modern User interface’ & restart Photoshop, and live previews should resume.

Let me know how it goes. Thanks!

Hey, @Fbc. Welcome to the Photoshop Community. I'll help you figure this out. Based on the limited description, this behavior could be expected, but we'll need specific workflow details to be sure.

Please share a video of the issue and the system info from Photoshop Help > System info > Copy and paste into a text document > Upload and attach here.

Please test and confirm if Photoshop (Beta) has an issue. You can get Photoshop (Beta) from the Creative Cloud > Apps tab > Beta Apps section.

    Thanks!

Thank you for your answer. I can't really give any more information…

For several years, I was able to install ttf or otf fonts while the program was open, and see the font list update automatically in Photoshop. Now, I have to restart the application to see these new fonts installed, and this has been the case for several recent versions of Photoshop.
I don't have this problem when I install a font from Adobe Fonts.

I will test with Photoshop Beta and give you feedback.

What are you using for a Font Management software and does it have plugins for activation within Adobe products? If you are not using anything then this would be expected behavior. Plugins like Extensis or Monotype allow for activated fonts to appear in opened applications. Without those you would have to restart to load them on startup.
