Nik 8 Installation not working

I have tried numerous times to install the new Nik 8 Collection to Photoshop but the tools simply do not appear under Filters as they should. I have uninstalled Nik 8 and tried reinstalling. I have uninstalled Photoshop and reinstalled. Both are the most current versions. But, no success. The Nik 8 collection tools work perfecetly in LIghtroom. I have checkled the file path to be sure Nik 8 is installed in the correct folder, and it is per DxO support team instructions.

So, what am I missing?

Thanks you for your reply.  Unfortunately your instructions are too complicated for me.  My question remains:

Why is this happening now with my latest upgrade to Nik Collection 8?  Is it because I have upgraded to a new iMac 2024 with the new Apple M4 chip?

I have never experienced this in my many years of using Nik Collection - many versions and many mMac operating systems.

I can use it through the filters menu as I have always done(not the palette) - but the message keeps popping up.

I appreciate your advice.  Thank you.  Heather

DxO has released  a new version of Nik Collection 8, version 8.2.

There's already a bugfix for the message that Photoshop is blocked during a Nik module is active.

Try it out, perhaps it's helps.

Me too!  I've done everything including contacting DxO.  I can access it from the Plugin pallette that appears next to my other palette but I get the message attached below.  Also it won't work on a seperate layer like to previous version did.

@Redhartotter  The message is a normal behavior if you start module form the Nik Collection via the Plugin palette.

This message indicates that all inputs and actions in Photoshop are blocked during a Nik module, like Color Efex or so, is running.

Check the settings  in one of the Nik modules, ex. Color Efex . Goto File - Settings an the to the Tab Host (1, Hostanwendung). Under Default Parameters (2, Standardparameter) chose on "Apply As" (3, Anwenden als) the option "new layer" (neue Ebene) from the list.

@JimCMAS I just downloaded the trial version of Nik Collection 8 to test, and it's working fine for me with Photoshop version 26.7
