Question

No thumbnail previews for .PSB in MAC Finder

Hi,
It's been about ten years since we lost thumbnail previews for .PSB files in the Finder on Mac.
Throughout all these years, this issue has NEVER been resolved! Fortunately, we were able to find plugins to compensate for this lack (thanks John R. Ellis).
But these plugins no longer work with recent versions of the OS (15.X, etc.).
Will you finally take action to fix this thumbnail display issue that has been going on for years?
Professional photo retouchers work with large files and cannot save in PSD format. PSB is essential, and we no longer have any thumbnail previews.
Thank you!

Its working here- Intel MacBook Pro, macOS Sequoia 15.5, PS 26.8.1. Tested with saving an existing PSD as a PSB and saving a new image directly as PSB. Both have Finder thumbnails, show the preview in Column view, and both display correctly in QuickLook.

Once the files size increased for above 4.5Gb the previews no longer work for .PSB files.

I believe this is a limitation of the Finder, not Photoshop. You'll need to use an app like Bridge to manage these files.

I completely agree, it's very annoying not to have PSB icons on Mac OS 15 anymore. Could you finally find a native solution please !

Hi @Vincent3834332945hr, Thank you for sharing your feedback and experience on the forums! I understand how important it is for professional retouchers to have thumbnail previews for .PSB files in Finder on Mac—especially when working with large files that can’t be saved as PSDs. Clearly, this has been a pain point for a long time, and with older plugins no longer working on recent versions of macOS (like 15.x), that frustration is more than understandable. We really appreciate your patience and the time you took to speak up about it. Your feedback matters, and it helps shine a light on the real challenges creative professionals are facing. Thank you again for bringing this to our attention! ^CH
