Object selection tool

Suddenly my object selection tool has gone haywire.

When selecting people a warning advises there are no people although there are people as attachment shows.

When removing something from the image, instead of removing it, it replaces . Attachment shows I removed persons head and it replaced it with another head from goodness knows where..

P/S has worked perfectly upto today..I have uninstalled and re-installed but have the same problem. Graphics driver is upto date and I have touched nothing.. Six months old PC everything upto date. Windows 11 system
