Old version of Camera Raw in Photoshop CS5

I just purchased a new Canon 7D Mark II camera that creates Raw images with a file extension of CR2.  The Adobe website indicates that I need a Camera Raw plug-in version of 8.7 for the new camera.  I have Photoshop CS5 which has Camera Raw plug-in version 6.7.0.339. I tried to download the current version of Adobe Camera Raw version 9.12.1, but I received the following error:

Update Failed

Updates could not be applied

This patch is not applicable for you. Please check for updates from the Help menu in your product to see a list of latest updates available.

If the problem persist, contact customer support for further assistance.

The Help menu in Photoshop CS5 shows that the application is up-to-date on system updates. I contacted Adobe customer service, but was informed that support for CS5 is only available on forums.

How can I get the updated version of the Camera Raw file, so I can process files from my new camera?

Simply put, you can't. CS5 will not take later than ACR 6.7

You need the DNG converter to make your raws into dng format that can be read by 6.70

Get it here Adobe Digital Negative Converter 9.x and carefully follow the instructions.
