Question

One of my personal projects in a PSB file can not open

I have a problem with a large file of work on photoshop, and frankly its getting annoying after using most (almost all) tips i found on discussions here.

I attempted an uninstallation and reinstall, nothing worked.

changing to an old version the file had once worked on, it did not work.

I have the repeated constance of the same error

'Could not load the user measurement scale presets file because Photoshop does not recognise this type of file.'
This is about 5-6 months (0.97 gb) worth of work and i really need access back to it, even backups are having the same issue.

I'm still looking for a solution as i write this, if anyone else had the same issue and found a long term solution, please reply.

In addition to Sammers reply,

1. Have you tried resetting Photoshop's preferences? They contain more than the user preferences and not necessarily reset on an uninstall/re-install.

2. If you have an older version of the file in back up, have you tried installing an older version of Photoshop to see if the file opens with that.  The CC app will allow you to install the latest two major verions, although of course Windows only allows you to open only one at a time.

Hey, @9292207_fantasy7386. Welcome to the Photoshop community. I'll need more info to help you figure this out.

Does this happen with specific documents? What is the general size of PSB files you work with, and where are the source files stored? Have you tried moving a few documents to the internal drive and opening them from it?

Working through a network, or an external drive, is unpredictable & is not recommended. Head here to learn more: https://adobe.ly/3A2G2zK
The event of file damage is rare. You can check the steps here to troubleshoot file recovery: https://adobe.ly/3YLSkGO

Thanks!
