I was using the Filter Aberration parametric filter extensively and suddenly stopped working. I was using the Filter Aberration parametric filter extensively and suddenly stopped working. I’ve tried everything I can think of to get it working, but it just won’t

All of the other parametric filters work just fine, but when I click on the Filter Aberration Chromatic nothing happens, over and over.

I’ve tried all of the following:

Reset preferences
Delete preferences
Restore Default Filters from the Parametric Filters flyout menu
Upgrade to newest version of Photoshop (currently on 27.9.1)
Uninstall and reinstall Photoshop

A couple of things you can try :
1. In the Parametric Filters panel, go to the drop down menu (top right) and choose ‘Restore Defaults’
2. If you have a previous version, or the Beta, of Photoshop installed, copy the filter from the previous version, or from the beta, to the new version.

The filter is stored in C: Program Files > Adobe > Adobe Photoshop 2026 > Required > UXP > com.adobe.photoshop-material-filters > parametric assets > default_parametric_filters > Included

Make sure your document is RGB, 8 or 16 bit

I had already tried the Restore Defaults from the drop down menu and that didn’t work

I then downloaded the beta so that I could copy the filter from the beta folder to the actual stable version that i have. Well for some reason that didn’t work. BUT using the beta version of PS does work. So this will have to be my work around for now.

Something else to try:
1. Go to the Parametric Filters panel and open Your Filters
2. Click the + sign at the bottom of the panel and steer to the location for the filters
C: Program Files > Adobe > Adobe Photoshop 2026 > Required > UXP > com.adobe.photoshop-material-filters > parametric assets > default_parametric_filters > Included
3. Click open
4. Now try the filter from that new location

Apparently Parametric Filters are hidden but available through a work-around (in Photoshop 27.9.1).

What happens if you paste the new image into the SO of one of the old images? (edit: Obviously this is no solution but it might provide a work-around.)

Could you please post screenshots with the pertinent Panels (Toolbar, Layers, Options Bar, …) visible?

Anyway the Filter »Aberration Chromatic« seems to perform without problems here.

If a Filter works on some files (your existing ones) and not on another that could also beg the question if there might be any differences – bit depth, color mode, …?

Same bit depth, same color mode.

I made a sequence of images from Premier. They're all the same file types, just a different frame.

The images I was working on were fairly high res (from a 4k sequence) but I've tried on lowered res files of the same bit depth and same color mode. Nothing

That is not a default Filter, is it?

If you should be talking about Photoshop (Beta) please post on that Forum, this one is dedicated to Photoshop proper.
