Open as layers in Photoshop from Lightroom Classic not working

I can't open multiple photos as layers in PS after I updated to the latest version.
And when I try to open one photo in PS, it pops up this.

I’m having an issue in Lightroom Classic. When I select two photos and go to Photo > Edit In > Open as Layers in Photoshop, the photos don’t load for some unknown reason. I’ve already reset Photoshop preferences and updated to the latest version (Photoshop 2025). Any solutions for this problem would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

What happened is the normal behavior: the latest installed version takes over file associations.

This is part of what you need to consider when having a beta installed: which one do you want to hold the file associations?

To fix it, just reinstall the production version.

I've found a fix that worked for me. After opening photoshop I went to Settings > Technology Previews > and UNchecked Deactivate Native Canvas. Voila, my layers open as they should when prompted from Lightroom Classic.

I did a clean install of photoshop and it's still happening. The only fix is to reset PS preferences after every session. 

It happens to me with most updates. It has happened again today on Feb 23, 2024. What's going on?

same issue here and had it already ealier this year as well.

I could solve it by de-install (both) PS versions (24.7.1 and 25.0). Then install 24.7.1 again. now it works again. Tested with 2 files and 7 files.

Now just giving it a shot with both versions installed again - leaving PS 24.7.1 as standard. It works.

Personally it is a bit frustrating, to spend Friday afternoons and Saturdays to install Adobe Software Updates, see if everything still works, or sort out the issues if possible. I pay a decent amount of money and expect updates not to create issues again and again.

@BobWylliePhoto CCD will not auto update unless you allow it to. If you click on the Manage auto-updates text on the top of the CCD window, you can turn on or off Auto-update.

As to the Ps/LrC interop:

1. Uninstall all PS Betas
2. Update to PS 25.0 (today’s release)
3. Reset PS Preferences
4. If it still doesn’t work, clean reinstall PS

I'm seeing the same issue - tried to demonstrate it as normal in a camera club talk last night and Photoshop 23 opened up but at the home screen - wouldn't go any further loading the 5 images I'd selected to load as layers from Lightroom Classic. Today is Sept 13th 2023, and I'm fully up to date on LR, PS and PS beta running an M1 Macbook  & Ventura 13.5.1.
