Opening print file PDF in Photoshop

It is no longer possible to open multiple print files (e.g. from an exhibition stand) in Photoshop afterwards to check whether the transitions are correct in the print files.

How can it be that a basic function such as opening a PDF in Photoshop is no longer implemented correctly? Does Adobe actually test anything before releases?

Environment: current Mac, Photoshop 2025 (not beta) PDF X-4:2008, i.e. a completely normal standard. I can open the file, but there are so many display errors that I cannot effectively check it.

I understand that you also make simpler tools for online creators. But damn it, there are still people who have learned how to use it and who still work as generalists in these areas. So can you please stop constantly making your software worse?

Hi @defaultromjngsf81tf! Thank you for reaching out! Could you please share a step-by-step screen recording of your workflow, so we can take a closer look at the problem? Please share your system info as well, in Photoshop from Help > System Info > Copy and paste the contents into a text/Word file. You can share it via Google Drive, WeTransfer, or another public file-sharing platform.

Thanks a lot!

In addition, can you clarify these so we can better assist?

  • Is this all PDFs, or only the ones from the exhibition stand?
  • Did you make the Print PDF or was it given to you?
  • Were the PDFs made from Photoshop or another application?
  • What are the transitions that you expect to see?
  • Are you using the term "Print files" to distinguish them from "Interactive PDFs" or do you mean something else?
  • What happens when you open the PDFs in Adobe Acrobat and check them there?
  • I'm confused about what you mean by 'It is no longer possible to open multiple print files" and "I can open the file". Can you clarify?
