Question

Option to retain 100% opacity on generated selections

The newest version of Select Subject is better in some ways and worse in others.

It's ability to feather the selections definitely works better on hair, but has a detrimental effect on most other things.

I would like to suggest a feature where Feathering & Opacity fades are optional so the tool is more versatile depending on the subject.

@paul_5551

Have you tried local device vs. cloud processing to see if the local device processing does what you want? The following image is old, so it may not reflect the current local processing (left) vs. cloud (right).

Hey, @paul_5551. Welcome to the Photoshop Community. I'll help you figure this out.

The Select Subject feature helps you get a head start on your workflows. Detailed and workflow-specific adjustments that require refinements are still available via the conventional selection tools and the Select and Mask workspace: https://adobe.ly/3KO33eB

Thanks!

Thanks for the response @Sameer K

I understand that it doesn't work for everything. The problem is that it no longer works on things that it used to work on.

I created an action for cutting out Pack Shots, which had a very high success rate, but now it's decreased drastically because it's misinterpreting the transparrent areas of products and leaving a highly feathered edge on most things.

If there was a check box that disabled the feathering of any selection, that would give much better control for the different subjects.
