Question

OS and Photoshop

I'm on an iMac 27 with Version Ventura 13.7.1 istalled. After updating Photoshop I was warned that a more recent version of the OS would make Photoshop work better, but my system cannot update to the latest OS, probably due to the fact that I'm on a 1917 system. Can I continue working with the Adobe Master Collection? Till when?

Thank you

Most likely macOS Ventura 13 will be supported by Adobe until at least next year around September/October 2025 or so when the new versions of the 2026 applications are released.

There is always OpenCore Legacy Patcher that can be used to update your 2017 iMac to Sonoma 14 or Sequoia 15

https://dortania.github.io/OpenCore-Legacy-Patcher/

As an example, we have a 2015 MacBook Pro that happily runs macOS Sonoma 14.7.1 and the latest Adobe applications

using OpenCore Legacy Patcher , even though the last Apple supported macOS is Monterey 12.7.6

More important though is to start saving for a new or used Apple Silicon Mac, for time maybe getting near for Apple to stop supporting Intel Macs and then when Apple drops Intel support so will Adobe.

Hopefully Intel support will continue for several more years, but who knows.

We know this is a typo, but can you tell us what you meant? Also, what version of Photoshop do you have installed now?

I'm on a 2017 iMac 27 with Version Ventura 13.7.1 istalled, but my system cannot be updated to the latest recommended

macOS 14.6.1

I have the 2025 Photoshop, version 26.0.0 20240927.r.26 a733fda x64 installed

After updating Photoshop I was warned that a more recent version of the OS would make Photoshop work faster, but my system cannot update to the latest MacOS, probably due to the fact that I'm on a 1917 system.

Can I continue working with the Adobe Master Collection? Till when?

Thank you

@Titusminor

Please clarify:

  • You've said 1917 twice. That was a hundred and seven years ago! I'm sure it's a typo, but what did you mean to say?
  • The last version of the Adobe Master Collection was CS6, released twelve years ago in 2012. There were also earlier versions.
You also said you have Photoshop 2025, version 26.0
What exact version do you have?

I have a 2017 iMac (a hundred years newer than yours 😊) and also cannot run the lastest macOS or Adobe Creative Cloud apps. I'm using the previous version for now and hoping Apple will come out with a 27" iMac that is not Intel or a Studio with a newer chip than M2. I may break down.
