P: Photoshop unusable after updating Intel macOS 26 Tahoe

Hello everyone,

Is anyone experiencing Ps not running properly after updating their Macbook Pro to Tahoe 26.0?

Every action takes 10 seconds to load, it's super laggy and literally unusable. I purged, I restarted, I reinstalled, I did it all - nothing.

Any ideas? Is this a bug Adobe/Apple have to sned an update for?

16in 2019 i9, UHD 630, 32GB RAM, 500GB

Thanks, have a good day

ALL - Adobe MAX starts next Tuesday (10/28) and with that historically comes new product updates including Photoshop. Expect that version to be compatible with Tahoe.

💅🏻 soo, it was working bad until now(I have Tahoe 26.2) but I turned off "Automatic Graphics Switching"  and this fixed it for me!!!!!!!💃🏼

go to Battery Options(at the bottom) > turn off "Automatic Graphics Switching”

and also

System Settings > Accessibility > Display and enable the "Reduce Transparency" (only this by itself didn't work for me☹️ )

Updated to Elements 2026 last week on MacBook with Tahoe. Dreadful. V slow especially cropping, dragging and resizing etc etc.  Over 30 seconds to do one side of a crop.  NEEDS SORTING ADOBE / APPLE

Photoshop 27.0.0 release is performing very poorly on Mac OS Tahoe (26.1 and all versions) that it is almost unusable. It is causing so many issues with working on imagery, both for quality of life, performance and speed.

This is really poor from you, Adobe. please work on a fix for this urgently - it's not just me that is having this problem if you google it!

Apple released their betas so you had time to make sure the new versions funtioned properly. We're paying a lot of money for this and we're not getting the service we're paying for.

Many of us are working just fine with lower configurations. There is one known issue with crummy Electron apps, you might check that. It does NOT seem like a Photoshop bug, but more likely a problem on your computer.

Yes, I'm having the same problem. Incredible delays with my Studio Pro M2 max

Do you have the problem with Electron apps slowing the system?

did you find solution? I have the same problem: PS is unusable with Tahoe

Check the link I posted. I'm not having problems on either Intel or Apple Silicon with Tahoe and Photoshop.

There is a known issue with Electron apps, apparently the framework developers did something stupid and used a private Apple API which then changed and caused slowdowns.

By @tommarcello

The last OS X version was Catalina 10.15, released in 2019. The current version is macOS Tahoe 2026.

Do you have an older computer and mean OS X, which started with 10.0 and ended with 10.15? If so, please tell us which OS X you are using.

@curt.gallery @Jordiboy many users are reporting doing a full uninstall and reinstall of the applications (not betas) has resolved any issues opening PS (or Illustrator).
