Question

Pen pressure broken since 27.4, and the 27.11 "Use WinTab" setting is not documented

Since version 27.4, pen pressure has been unreliable on my pen display. Version 27.11 added Edit > Preferences > Tools > Use WinTab, which is the setting that restores pressure. It is not in the release notes or help pages, and the pressure warning icon doesn't point to it. I found it only through other users' forum posts after many hours of troubleshooting. I have been dealing with pen and brush problems in Photoshop for about two years and it is becoming more than infuriating. Please document this setting, add a tooltip on the warning icon, and fix the underlying Windows Ink regression.

Setup: Photoshop 27.11.0, Windows 11, XP-Pen Artist Pro 22 (Gen 2), driver 4.0.21.

Problem: Pen pressure is unreliable on a pen display since Photoshop 27.4. In 27.11 the setting that restores it is Edit > Preferences > Tools > Use WinTab. That setting is not in the release notes or help pages, and the pressure warning icon in Brush Settings does not point to it. Toggling Windows Ink in the tablet driver and setting UseSystemStylus 0 in PSUserConfig.txt did not fix it.

Expected: Pressure works by default, or the warning icon explains how to fix it. The Use WinTab setting is documented.
