Question

Pen won't switch to eraser tool when hovering over tablet

I have a wacom Cintiq 22HD and normally when you hover over the screen with the eraser end of the pen, the cursor will be for your eraser tool. This lets you adjust the size of the eraser without manually changing tools and adjusting it. In the newest version 21.1 it doesn't do this anymore. If you hover over the screen with the eraser end of the pen, the cursor will show whatever you had selected for the pen end. It'll switch over to the correct tool once you touch the screen, but it means you can't adjust the size of your eraser without actually switching tools. It makes having an eraser end of the pen useless. If you go back to a previous version of Photoshop, it works as intended. It's a bug with 21.1

For me, it worked to simply go to the settings > grip pen settings > options, clicking the click & tap on and then reselcting the hover and click option. After that the eraser end of the pen worked normally again.

Using the lates Adobe Photoshop CC and drivers with wacom intuos drawing tablet, and my laptop is MacBook Pro (2019).

I’m having this problem too. I found a temporary fix, but it's a bit inconsistent. First, draw something with your stylus. Then double or triple tap with the eraser part on the screen somewhere that doesn’t affect what you’re drawing. This should let you adjust your eraser’s size. Sometimes it works by just tapping once.

It may take a few tries to get it working. Also, if you remove the eraser too far from the screen it will revert to the brush tool so you will have to do the whole procedure again.

Having this same issue as well with a Cintiq 22HD.  This is extremely annoying while sketching, where I need to be able to manipulate the brush size for both sides of the stylus.

The double tap in another area trick seemed to work OK, but this is absolutely not an OK fix for certain types of sketching/work flows.

I have this same problem. Does anyone have a solution besides going back to a previous version?
