I have a problem with photoshop V22.1.1... Whenever I start photomerge photoshop freezes and I can't do anything. I have to kill it from the task manager...

Can anyone help?

Hi, I have a problem using photoshop Photomarge.
Every time I click on Photomarge, the program crashes and closes automatically?
How can this problem be solved?

This thread was about a different issue, Photoshop freezing when trying to get the dialog box up to do a photomerge, and also the same freezing behavior on selecting "Help->System Info". You may want start a new thread or look to see what others have had to say about it actually crashing out of the app altogether.

The freezing up problem appears to be fixed for me in the 26.5 version.

So somebody just accepted a reply as a "correct answer". Except that what the correct answer says worked, does not work any better than calling it up through Photoshop. The bug continues to exist for a subset of Photoshop users, in particular those using it on certain HP hardware.

I spent a few hours with an Adobe Support person who was extremely thorough, and he created a case with my log files and other details about my system. Everything he expected would fix it did not. We wiped all adobe software off of the system, reinstalled, ran it in safe mode, etc. He was surprised by this and was fully invested in trying to fix it, but could not. So it's a case in Adobe's system and I've provided all information that I could.

This is not "Solved". The issue persists.

The bug where Photoshop completely freezes up when choosing the Photomerge menu command and the Help->System Info command appears to be fixed in 26.5.

Just to summarize my experience, it was only happening on my HP laptop. Not on my Dell desktop. I noticed from my searching on Google and seeing other reports that it was most frequently happening to people with HP hardware.

Also, to be clear, this was not a crash/shutdown with an error. This was a complete freeze of Photoshop, just picking either of the two menu items. No dialogs ever appeared, and the top-level menu item still showed as highlighted. Photoshop had to be shut down with the Task Manager on Windows.

So if you've seen this, be sure you're up-to-date.

Hello -

My photoshop app freezes anytime I attempt to initiate a photomerge. This issue has been widely reported on this forum and elsewhere on the internet but no one seems to have found a solution.

In trying to fix the issue I was asked to provide System info by Clocking on Help>System Info but that also causes the app to freeze. The only way to close it is to End Task.

Please advise, investigate, and remedy ASAP!

I am running Windows 11 on a MSI laptop 11th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-1185G7 @ 3.00GHz 3.00 GHz with NVIDIA GeForce RTX2060 with Max-Q Design GPU.

I have the most recent version of Photoshop and NVIDIA driver.

Hi @willp40619518 sorry to hear this, when did this first start to happen, what changes to your computer/OS or version of Ps have happened recently?

A system hang or freeze requiring a computer restart usually means a low level failure such as a driver (bad video card driver, etc), failing hardware (hard disk, video card, etc.) or damaged OS installation.

If you do get Ps to launch, then it would be good to share your Photoshop System Info. Launch Photoshop, and select Help >System Info...and copy/paste the text in a reply.

I kind of have solved the problem.. in case anyone has the same issue... I was trying to access the photomerge from the menus File>Automate>Photomerge.

Instead I opened my photos in camera RAW and then did the photomerge through the camera raw...

The first method still doesn't work with me for some reason...

I think @Esraaem misspoke when they said "ACR".

You can choose Photomerge in Adobe Bridge from Tools > Photoshop > Photomerge. I usually filter to the images first after giving them a ranking so I don't have to browse.

At what point does Photoshop Freeze. Does the Script Dialog open? If it Does Can you navigate to where your files are and select them? If you can select them are they added to the Dialog? If the are can you set options then start the stitching process? At what point in the Photomerge process does Photoshop 22.1.1 Freeze? It works on my Windows 10 PC.
