Thank you Thank you Thank you.

Despite what some have assumed, I have been all over the Community,

All the links were active at one time but not now.

I "ran" it on my "test bed"

and so far so good.

Actually the installer did not run

but the message indicated something was changed but installation failed.

And it works, I can do all the Type manipulations I want.

Just confirmed fix by checking with CS5 on my Production setup.

touching Type killed CS5 in a flash ; )

of course, nothing is easy for those on the trailing edge.

I had to figure out how to run the installer on my system.

Got'er Done.

Will stay on "test bed" for a while

cannot afford to crash what I already have running.

Your help is much appreciated : )

not an expert but have been on Photoshop since Mac OS 7.

Even have early version on floppy (well stiff) discs.

@pat_2962 like 15 years late?! You may need to do a search on the forum, here is one from @John T Smith

You are allowed 2 activations... if you did not DE-activate previous installs you may not proceed

For serial number programs you may download only if you bought direct from Adobe
-Log in to your Adobe account and click this link https://account.adobe.com/products
--IF a download is available there will be a Download button under the program name
---as always, write the serial number in a text file AND copy that text file and the
---download file(s) to an external drive (or two) to be sure you always have what you need
---since Adobe DOES sometimes remove very old downloads from their file server
-if you did not buy direct from Adobe you must find your original install
-if you have an Education or volume license you MUST use your original media
--the link for an Education or volume license download is not available at all
-if you bought a disc and don't have a drive you will need to buy an external USB drive
-if you bought and lost a CD/DVD disc Adobe does not provide a replacement
-if you bought a download from a 3rd party vendor you will need to contact that vendor

Thanks for the reply.

But I am at the end of my quest not the beginning

and already fiund helpful posts to get there.

I was A-OK just a few days ago

when I made CS5 mad somehow

and broke my Type functionality : (
