Photoshop 2022 continually crashing.

I am having continuous issues with photoshop crashing which started about a week ago. I currently have version 23.3.1 installed.

 

I can't even open a single .jpeg or .png file without it crashing. The file will sometimes open normally but as soon as a select a tool or try to zoom, basically do anything, the photoshop home screen will appear in the space around my file and that's it frozen, I then have to use task manager to close it. Other times the file will open but will crash instantly.

 

I use photoshop regularly and this just started suddenly about a week ago. I still use Lightroom and Premiere Pro with no issues which makes me think it's an issue with photoshop rather than my system.

 

I have tried all of the usually recommended fixes, disabling GPU, clearing preferences, increasing RAM allocation, updating graphics drivers, etc. None of which worked.

 

Any new insights/solutions to this issue would be greatly appreciated.

I am running Windows 10

8GB RAM

AMD Ryzen5 4600H

NVIDIA GeForce GTX1650 Studio driver

 

I had hoped that the issue may have been solved in one of the recent updates but sadly this was not the case.

Our company solved this issue by updating the bios for motherboards. This was happening to all of our office computers because they have the same hardware.

This upgrade fixed all of our computers having hard crashes when opening .jpegs or .tiffs.

Our company solved this issue by updating the bios for motherboards. This was happening to all of our office computers because they have the same hardware. 
From our technical director:
I upgraded the BIOS for the Gigabyte GA-797X-UD5H from F8 to F10

Perhaps try resetting Photoshop preferences?

(read this entire post before acting please)

Resetting restores Photoshop's internal preferences, which are saved when Photoshop closes.

If they become corrupt then various issues can occur.

The user Library folder is hidden by default on macOS.

I manually deleted the preferences and performed all of the steps in the articles.  Still crashing my computer, not just Photoshop.  When I try to open a .tiff or .jpg it waits about 2 seconds and then my computer restarts.  

 

I have also disabled plugins and that is not the problem either.  I have disabled my graphics card, still crashes. I have uninstalled and re-installed photoshop, still crashes. Thankfully 2019 version still works for me or I wouldn't be able to do my job.  The scary part is, if Adobe forces me to update 2019 at any point, I won't be able to work.

As mentioned above, PS is still crashing after disabling GPU.

Could you try launching Photoshop with Shift key pressed, and skip loading plugins, could be possible that some plugin is causing this crash.

 

Also, I would like to know more about the program error, can you share steps or try running the plugin so that we get some idea about it and help you resolve the same.

    It may help if we could see your Photoshop System Info. Launch Photoshop, and select Help >System Info...and copy/paste the text in a reply. We will then get it to the team to dig into it.

    Thank you for your reply Cory. Unfortunately I have tried unchecking Multithread Compositing and GPU Compositing, the problem still occured each time.

     

    I don't get the option to submit crash reports, even when photoshop freezes completely.

     

    I do sometimes get a 'Program error' warning so I have downloaded the user diagnostic and reproduced the problem. Here is the clipboard below, very useful!

    I'm not seeing any submitted crash reports from you in our system. If you haven't done so already, please submit all Crash Reports along with your email address:     https://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/kb/submit-crash-reports.html That will help us diagnose the crash. 

    Please also try:

    • Go to Preferences > Performance... and uncheck Multithreaded Compositing - and restart Photoshop.
      Does the problem persist?       

    • Go to Preferences > Performance... click Advanced Settings... and uncheck "GPU Compositing" - then restart Photoshop. Does the problem still occur?

      I am having the same issue and those fixes do not reslove the problem.  My machine is windows 10 with nvidia geforce rtx 3070 and processor is intel hd graphics 4600.

      For PS 2022, everytime I open any file it restarts my computer after about 2 seconds.
