Photoshop 2023 (also 2022) crashes when trying to crop images

This has been going on for about a year on and off. Restoring preferences and uninstalling/reinstalling does nothing. I'm on Windows 10, using an AMD RX 6600.

Hi @adamr53991784 ,

This usually points to a GPU issue.

Try this:

Please try the following:
Choose Edit > Preferences > Performance. Uncheck Multithreaded Compositing and restart Ps. If it works, carry on with your business.

If not, then turn off the GPU.
Choose Edit menu > Preferences > Performance and uncheck Use Graphics Processor, then restart Ps.

Let us know how you go

I tried both solutions. The crashes are still happening.

Hey, @adamr53991784. Welcome to the Photoshop Community. I'll move your response to discussions for now. We'll need more info to help you figure this out.

Please share the system info from Photoshop Help > System info > Copy & paste into a text document > upload & attach here.

The RX 6600 has had some history with drivers. Please check if the drivers are up to date for the GPU and if you're on the latest version already, try rolling back to previous recommended GPU drivers from AMD: https://adobe.ly/3LRuEcN

Thanks!
