Photoshop 2023 glitches when I zoom in and out

My Photoshop 2022 all of a sudden stopped working today. It wouldn't even open the app, so I updated to Photoshop 2023.

When I opened a .psd file and zoomed in and out, the app got very glitchy and even obscured the image with a gray box. Any idea why this is happening?

Here are some quick solutions for Photoshop 2023 zoom glitches:

Update Software: Ensure you have the latest Photoshop update installed.
GPU Drivers: Update your graphics card drivers to the latest version.
Performance Preferences: In Photoshop preferences, go to Performance, and adjust the GPU settings or try changing the Drawing Mode.
Cache & History: Clear cache and history in Photoshop to free up resources.
Reset Preferences: Hold down Alt + Ctrl + Shift (Windows) or Option + Command + Shift (Mac) while starting Photoshop to reset preferences.
Disable OpenGL: In Photoshop preferences, go to Performance, and try disabling OpenGL.
Legacy Compositing: In Photoshop preferences, go to Performance, and try enabling or disabling Legacy Compositing.

Running OS Ventura on a Macbook Pro M1 Max (32GB Memory) and so far all of the following suggestions offered in this discusson thread to stop this erratic glitching behaviour with an image within PS 2023 has not resolved the issue. This latest update has rendered PS unusable.

Congrats on being an early OS adopter! Adobe has not released an update for Photoshop or anything else that was built specifically for that OS. Ventura was released after the latest PS builds.

Reached out to Adobe Tech Support to find a resolution that fixed the terrible glitching when trying to edit, zoom in/out an image. For anyone else who may encounter what I have with a similar OS and hardware setup, Adobe Tech Support suggested changing the following: Quit Photoshop first and then:

Apple icon > System Prefs > Privacy & Security > Accessibility > Add Photoshop
Apple icon > System Prefs > Privacy & Security > Full Disk Access > Add Photoshop

Hi, that GPU is not very powerful, try to check "Deactivate Native Canvas" in the menu Edit/Preferences/Technology preview (Pc) or Photoshop/Preferences/Technology preview (Mac), then restart Photoshop.
This is not a fix, but rather a way to check if the issue appears only with the new technology, and should be reported to the Ps team.

The max i have it all due to our graphic card issue or our CPU minimum requirments doesn't match with latest PS requirments. And who is post this question also have less Graphic detail.

If your computer does not meet minimum requirements, you will have issues.

You can always downgrade your PS to a more compatible verison using the link I posted above.

I'm getting the exact same issue today. Updated to PS 2023 yesterday, and I cannot work on my files. It seems to be worse when I open TIF files.

Same question to you - go to Photoshop Help and copy/paste your system info here.

Most often when users have these kinds of issues they have updated their PS past the point of hardware compatibility or meeting the minimum requirements.

@Bryan-M-W Your graphics card does not meet the minimum specs for running any modern version of Photoshop.

The minimum operations/second is 2,000 and your Iris plus clocks in at 900, well below the recommended minimum.

I'm guessing from your specs you are running an older Mac Mini model.

My recommendation is to either purchase a newer Mac with an updated graphics card, or downgrade your PS past 2022 but with a graphics card this low I'm not sure how far back you'd need to go. I'd start with 2020. You can direct download here. https://prodesigntools.com/
