Photoshop 2025 becomes unresponsive when rendering smart filters

I'm on the latest version (26.6.1) on OS 15.4.1 

Mac Mini M1

16GB RAM

 

For this particular example - layered TIF (580MB)

When I crop an image, Photoshop stops responsing at the Rendering Smart Filts stage and I have to force quit. It happens on various files at this point.

 

Any suggestions?
