Photoshop 2026 missing old 3D texture options in PSB file

I’m trying to open a flat 2D texture from an older Photoshop PSB with a 3D model. Photoshop 2026 doesn’t show the old 3D texture options. Do I need an older Photoshop version, and how can I get it if Creative Cloud only shows 26.0?

This has been a very long time coming. Version 22 was available in the CC app for many years, for precisely this reason.

The backstory is that 3D was built on the old and now obsolete OpenGL framework. OpenGL is no longer supported by either Apple or Microsoft, and Photoshop’s entire graphics code was therefore migrated to the OS-native APIs, DirectX in Windows, and Metal in MacOS.

Migrating 3D to DirectX/Metal was not deemed cost effective, especially since Adobe by then had dedicated 3D apps that were simply much better than Photoshop 3D ever was.

@Polly_Whale0814 the last version to be fully compatible with 3D features was version 22.2, Adobe has recently removed the option to install that version from the Creative Cloud app
