Photoshop 2026 v27.8 (macOS) - Does "Export As" record in Actions for anyone?

Can anyone running Photoshop 2026 v27.8 (Release) on macOS please test the following?

  1. Create a new Action.
  2. Click Record.
  3. Choose File → Export → Export As...
  4. Stop recording.

Does Photoshop record an "Export As" step in the Action, or is no step recorded?

On my system, the recorder is active (red Record button is on), but no Action step is created for Export As.

Other actions (for example, creating a new layer or placing an embedded file) record correctly, so the Actions recorder itself appears to be working.

I'm simply trying to determine whether this is:

  • expected behaviour,
  • a limitation of Export As,
  • a Photoshop 2026 v27.8 issue,
  • or something specific to my installation.

I'd appreciate it if anyone running the same version could try this quick test and report the result.

It’s an action and scripting limitation since the initial release, which Adobe are aware of.

    Can’t help than waiting for the solution. This issue I also faced when trying to test some more actions. It worked well with an action to “PLACE’ a pictutre on a new layer. So it works on some and not onothers.

    Photoshop has always had limitations in what an action can record (usually GUI related, but not exclusively). The action panel has an “insert menu item” option for some commands that can’t be directly recorded, but don’t get your hopes up for Export As.
