photoshop 24.7.1 and 25

PC windows 10 enterprise

photoshop crashes/quits from the following actions:

- press "ALT".

- click any menu bar items: File, Edit, etc...

- reset preferences (CTRL K) but continues to crash.

- uninstalled and reinstalled removing all preference and previous versions but continues to crash.

able to use photoshop 24.7 without issue.

same issue occurs with illustrator 27.9. able to use illustrator 27.8.1 without issue.

separate PC windows 10 pro is able to run photoshop 25 and illustrator 27.9 without issue.

Correct answer ihgordonk

@Ged_Traynorthanks! i tried cleaner several times, install/uninstall, and finally this morning (maybe with the cc update?) both latest versions of photoshop and illustrator no longer crash. the odd thing is photoshop 25 would not clear from the system even though cleaner did not list it and cc wanted me to install but no option to uninstall. however it launched without issues. i went ahead and hit the install on cc and still continues to work properly. thanks again for your help.

@ihgordonk try using the Adobe cleaner tool

https://helpx.adobe.com/ie/creative-cloud/kb/cc-cleaner-tool-installation-problems.html

Also have you checked Windows event viewer for errors relating to Photoshop.exe in the application log

thanks, it seems to be something with this pc. correction to my statement is that performing any action either hitting ALT or clicking File, etc... will cause it to crash.

@ihgordonk I've tested it on both Windows 10 and Windows 11 PC's with Photoshop version 25.0 and 24.7.1 and can't replicate the issue.
