Photoshop 25.9 - hangs when moving artboard

Hi there,

I'd like to report a bug, as in subject. This happens only in 25.9 version, I've downgraded to 25.7, and it doesn't happen.

When I have a document, with couple of artboards in it (let's say, ad banners) - when I try to move any artboard, and, after clicking on the name, and starting to drag it to move it someplace alse - when I try to pass it over any other artboard, or layer, which is outside the artboards - PS freezes.

It happens every time, in every document I've opened.

I found the "solution"!!!

If you turn OFF [Auto-size Canvas] option, then there is no more freezing/hanging.

The only side-effect is the canvas size. It stays as is, so if you try to move an artboard out of the canvas, then it will be "hidden".

But the easiest way is to make two empty artboards (when [Auto-size Canvas] is on) and put these to the top left and bottom right corner of the "needed" canvas and then turn OFF the [Auto-size Canvas] option.

Edit: if you move an artboard out of canvas (because you need more space), and it is hidden, you need to turn back ON Auto-size Canvas just once, then every artboard will be on that resized canvas, and you can switch back OFF, and there is no more hanging again

Pls let me now, if its works.

(I'm on an M1 iMac with external display, 16GB ram, Photoshop 25.12)

Adobe has NO solution to this?  Oh well, guess it's time to install an earlier version again... same with Bridge, Illlustrator...come on Adobe...GET IT TOGETHER>

I feel you, is incredible how this is not solved yet, I can't see the hour to finish my current project and move to Figma definitelly. Been using Photoshop since version 5, but no more.

This was happening to me. I just downgraded back to 25.7 and we're back without any problems. Not sure exactly what is going on but it seems that I would lean towards something with the AI functionality bugging in the background. Or if there is an unncessary amount of meta data being packaged into each artboard.

Same issue here running 25.11. Moving, copying, or even thinking about an artboard causes Photoshop to lag and freeze and I have to force close. I've tried all the suggested solutions one by one (dispabling GPU, allocating more RAM, placing a layer mask over the artboard, reinstalling Photoshop, updated graphics driver) and I can replicate the issue every time. I've even tried the several different ways to duplicate an artboard.

Only solution right now is to copy the artboard without the content and then copy and place the content onto the blank artboard. It still takes way longer than it should but doesn't cause the app to freeze.

I am having the same problem on a MacBook Pro running PSD 25.11. If I try to move multiple 4K artboards with many layers each they jump all over the place. If I move the artboards one at a time it seems to be fine. Tedious.

Just to let you all know, I am testing BETA 25.13 and this is still not solved.
I am stuck with version 24.7.4

Please ensure your graphics driver is up to date, reset Photoshop preferences, disable third-party plugins, and check for any updates. If the issue persists, report it to Adobe Support.

Thank you.😊

Just updated my grahics driver, updated Windows, deleted my preferences, deleted all cached files and assignned maximum RAM to Photoshop... But NOTHING seems to fix this bug. Copying artboards is such a basic fundamental feature that I would expect Adobe to make it a priority. Please take this seriously Adobe, this is unacceptable when we're all being charged for a substandard product and it's killing our business workflow!

SOLUTION (for now)
Im experiencing the same bug.

You can have both versions 2023 and 2024 versions installed simultaneously.

I just installed last version of 24 and it workd perfectly with moving artboars.
So im using old version for projects with multiple artboards and new version + beta for projects where i need AI and other stuff.

so i have 3 photoshops installed (v24+v25+beta) hehe

I believe all the entire version 25 has problems, tried several, the most stable was 25.0, but still a couple of crash here and there. My computer works flawessly and is top noch, all other adobe software works perfectly. I been loosing hours of work because of version 25, please adobe solve this.

I'm having the same issue. I just upgraded to 25.11, but it's still happening.  Super frustrating!
