Photoshop 27.10 EPS issue – embedded CMYK profile appears to be ignored

I would like to add another production example of this issue.

We work with large numbers of Photoshop EPS files in a professional retouching and colour-managed production workflow. Since using Photoshop 27.10, I receive the following warning when opening these files:

“This document contains Adobe Photoshop data which appears to be damaged. Continue and ignore the Photoshop data?”

The files continue to open after clicking OK and the image data appears visually intact. However, I have noticed an additional problem which may be important for colour-managed workflows.

The affected EPS files open in Photoshop 27.10 as Untagged CMYK.

Our production EPS files normally contain an embedded CMYK ICC profile, so Photoshop appears to be failing to read or retain this information when the warning occurs.

Because these are production files used for colour-critical retouching, losing the embedded CMYK profile is potentially more serious than the warning message itself.

I have therefore reverted to an earlier Photoshop version for this work.

I can provide a sample EPS if it would help Adobe reproduce or investigate the ICC profile behaviour.
