Photoshop 27.10 struggles with my Brand new High-End PC

I just bought a Brand new PC and Photoshop struggles to operate efficiently utlizing my new GPU.

Here’s the specs:

CPU: Intel Core Ultra 7 270k Plus
GPU: NVIDIA RTX5070Ti
RAM: 64GB
SSD: 1TB
OS: Windows 11 Pro
4k, 32” Monitor.

Problem 1:

The issue is mainly with the Object Selection tools and those tools/options that requires GPU. I’ve turned off all settings for Object Selection tool for auto detecting objects. But it still takes a 2-5 secs to fully operational.

So even the automatic detection is disabled, when I select the tool, the little loading icon still spins like it’s detecting something. Before it finishes, if I try to draw a rectengle to select subject, it lags behind my mouse movement. When the detection icon stopped, then the tool behave as expected. I’m not sure what happens during the process.

No crush of course. However, when I draw a rectangle with Object selection tool, my processor usages goes up to 100% for 1 or 2 seconds.

Problem 2:

When photoshop starts, if I hit ctrl+N to create a new document, it open NEW new document dialog box and after couple of seconds, it opens the LEGACY new document dialog box. It happens when I try to the shortcut right after it is launced. However, if I give time after the launch, it works as expected. Open the NEW new document dialog box.

My previous machine with Intel Core i7 8700k with NVIDIA 1060 6GB perfomed better with the new machine.

So I’m curious if it’s photoshop issue or GPU issue or driver issue. Any help would be appreciated.

Wow... whew... wow!

I finally found a solution that works flawlessly. My YouTube stuttering is completely gone, and tools like Object Selection and Select Subject are working perfectly.

The Trade-off: Photoshop’s Neural Filters run about 50% slower than before, but the overall system stability is worth it.
Step 1: Disable Vertical Sync (V-Sync) for Photoshop in your GPU control panel.
Step 2: Right-click on Photoshop in the Windows Task Manager and turn on Efficiency Mode. (Note: You currently have to do this each time you launch the app).

It would be highly helpful if Adobe added a built-in switch in Photoshop’s settings to force the app into Efficiency Mode permanently.

Even though my computer has high-end hardware, using the latest version v27.10.0 causes severe slowdowns at times. On occasion, the application completely freezes after opening a file via drag-and-drop.

Additionally, saving files in *.PNG format sometimes takes an unreasonably long time.

I suspect these issues started occurring after the introduction of the new "AI Assisted / Pro Editor" buttons.

I am currently rolled back to version 26.11.7, which works completely smoothly.

Please release a fix update as soon as possible.

That would be unfortunate! The YouTube video shutters even when I just start [cursing removed] Photoshop. I’m not sure if anyone here from Adobe can address this issue.

I was pretty good with my old system, but I hoped my performance would go up considerebly with the new system and won’t shutter YouTube videos while working on Photoshop.

Turns out, the shutter issue just got more prominent. That’s very unfortunate thing I’ve discovered in my lifetime.

@sajidul what GPU driver do you use, the Studio or Game Ready, Adobe recommends the Studio version, there has been a lot of GPU reported issues with Photoshop version 27.10

I’m using the latest Studio Driver version 616.56. And been extremely frustrated with Photoshop’s performance for a few days on my New PC. I also disabled the integrated graphics though BIOS. So there’s no chance of conflicting graphics on Windows.

However, my previous 8 years old machine was fine to be honest, just was slower, but not laggy. For this, I was thinkingg if there are hardware issues.

@sajidul Try to go back to NVidia’s device driver version 596.36 (Studio version). Several users reported issue with the 6xx.xx version.

I’m also been going back to this version.
