What a shity update.

Whol day I can’t work because all my works can’t be saved during edition. I can’t use CRTL+S the only solution is Save as and save as new file with new name. Whole day such crap.

I’ve moved your report from the Photoshop 27.11 announcement discussion into a separate thread so we can investigate and track this behavior independently.

Sorry for the disruption this has caused to your work. Could you please share the system info by going to Help > System Info > Copy?

I’d also like you to try a few targeted tests:

Create a new, simple Photoshop document and save it to a new folder on your local internal drive. Make a small change, then press Ctrl+S repeatedly. Does the same error eventually occur?
When the error appears, close any File Explorer windows displaying that folder, especially if the Preview pane or thumbnails are visible, and try Ctrl+S again. Let us know whether that immediately releases the file.
If that folder is being monitored by OneDrive, Dropbox, Google Drive, backup software, antivirus/security software, Adobe Bridge, or another application, temporarily test from a local folder that is not being synced or actively monitored.
In Photoshop > Settings > File Handling, enable Legacy “Save As”, restart Photoshop, and repeat the same workflow. Please let us know whether this changes the behavior.
As a separate test, temporarily disable Automatically Save Recovery Information under Settings > File Handling, restart Photoshop, and test repeated Ctrl+S saves again. Please re-enable it after the test, since the recovery feature is useful if Photoshop or the system unexpectedly closes.

If you can reproduce it reliably, a short screen recording showing the initial successful save followed by the save that produces the error would also be very helpful.

Once we have those results and your System Info, I can take the reproducible case to the Photoshop team.

The issue I described doesn't occur every time I press the Ctrl+S key combination, but it does happen with both local and network files—especially large ones (over 500 MB). The notification regarding the locked file indicates that it is being used by the Node.js process so I killed all Node.js processes in Task Manager and the problem appears much less than previously. However, a prompt started appearing asking whether the file had been modified outside of Photoshop or if I was sure I wanted to overwrite it with a newer version.

I store all my files on a QNAP NAS drive that is continuously synchronized with Dropbox. Yet, no one else is using these specific files at the time. Nothing has changed in the hardware setup in this regard, whereas such messages were extremely rare in the previous version of Photoshop—occurring, I’d say, less than once or twice a week.

I will try to carry out all the actions you proposed, but not until the end of the week, as I have a tight schedule right now and need to finish a few tasks.

Thanks for the update and System Info, @hslawecki. The fact that Windows identifies a Node.js (node.exe) process as holding the file is particularly useful.

The next time this happens, before ending the process, please open Task Manager > Details, locate the node.exe process, right-click it, and select Open file location, then share the folder path or a screenshot. If possible, also note its PID. Please don’t modify anything in that folder.

One clarification on the local-file test: please use a folder physically located on an internal drive that is not part of a NAS/network location, a mapped drive, a Dropbox/OneDrive/QNAP sync folder, a redirected folder, or any other synchronized location. For example, create a temporary folder directly on C:\, save a test PSD there, then press Ctrl+S again.

When you have time later this week, please also complete the remaining tests from my previous reply:

Check whether the issue reproduces with a new/simple document in that local, non-synced folder.
Check whether closing File Explorer windows/Preview panes changes the behavior.
Test with Legacy “Save As” enabled.
Separately test with Automatically Save Recovery Information temporarily disabled, then re-enable it afterward.

It’s the same story again this morning. Restarting the computer or the network drive doesn't help. The same thing happens with files saved locally, by the way; consistently, by the second or third recording, a message appears stating that the file is in use by another process.
