Question

Photoshop 27.11 not showing the stroke, fill, line weight, etc. properties of a shape

Creating a line or shape with one of the shape tools does not show the stroke, fill, line weight, etc. properties for that object so that one or more of the properties can be changed. These may (though it seems inconsistently) appear when the shape is first created, but do not appear in the Properties panel for subsequent editing.

Note: the only properties displayed and editable are the Transform properties.

    Hi @MarcelloRW,

Thanks for reporting this! I understand how inconvenient it is when Fill, Stroke, and other shape controls disappear from the Properties panel.

Could you please try a few quick checks?

    1. Select the shape layer in the Layers panel, open Window > Properties, and check whether the Appearance section is expanded to display Fill, Stroke, and Stroke Width.

    2. With the shape layer selected, activate the corresponding Shape tool (U) or Path Selection tool (A). Do the Fill and Stroke controls appear in the Options bar?

    3. Go to Window > Workspace and try a different workspace, such as Essentials.

    4. Go to Window > Workspace > Reset Essentials (or reset your currently selected workspace) and check whether the missing controls return.

If the issue persists, could you share your Help > System Info and a screenshot showing the selected shape layer, Properties panel, and Options bar?

Also, does this happen with all shapes, including a simple rectangle in a new document, or only with existing files?

These details will help us narrow down whether this is a workspace/display issue or something that needs further investigation.

    Thanks for your help!

    Best,
    Anshul Saini

Hi Anshul, bringing up the Shape Tool (U) worked to make the controls I was looking for visible.

Many thanks for the quick response.
