Photoshop 27.11 on Windows: brush preview taper, pen pressure, shortcuts, guide snapping, and no way to reach support
I have been an Adobe customer since 2000 and had a Creative Cloud subscription for years. I now use Photoshop through my school license. For two years I have restarted my computer several times a day and reinstalled Photoshop several times a month to get basic brush and pen behavior working. It is becoming more than infuriating. Today I lost about 13 hours to these problems:
1. Brush preview thumbnails lose their taper until Photoshop or the computer is restarted. It happens daily, sometimes several times a day.
2. Pen pressure has been unreliable since 27.4. The only fix is Use WinTab in 27.11, and that setting is not documented anywhere.
3. Ctrl+Z and Ctrl+D stop responding while Edit > Undo still works. Keys also drop intermittently.
4. Brush strokes bend toward guides when I draw across them.
5. Having the Brushes and Brush Settings panels open together freezes Photoshop on brush size changes. Adobe has acknowledged this since 27.4.
6. Adobe has no support email, the chat tells me to contact an administrator, and the forums get no engineer replies.
Setup: Photoshop 27.11.0, Windows 11, NVIDIA RTX A1000, XP-Pen Artist Pro 22 (Gen 2), driver 4.0.21.
I need an engineer to confirm these, a case number, and a fix date for pen and brush input on Windows pen displays.
