Photoshop AI Generation credits 2024

I have been using Photoshop AI Generation since last September. I get 500 generation credits per month. I find that about half of the generations that AI do are not good enough to use.

 

I am aware that it is very easy to use up most of my credits in one month and would like to know what is being done at the AI programing section to improve the  generation results as there maybe a a demand for a "generation rebate" for some of the unusable results that are produced by the generation system.

    Ai is evolving and it will be more efficient in the future.

    I love the posts from the naysayers. who are virulent in their assertions that Ai generated imagery is the work of the devil.  Someone want an option to switch off all traces of Ai in Photoshop, because it made him feel ill.  Never mind that these people have been happily using Sensei driven tools like Select Object, and a much improved Select & Mask and all manner of other features in Photoshop and other CC apps.  At MAX last year Illustrator was able to turn raster text into live text with the same font.  I know OCR has been around for years, but this was totally next level.  Premiere Pro was able to transcribe speech from a video, and then edit the video by arranging the written text.  Proper magic.

     

    These are professional people who, we'd assume, want to remain competitive in a difficult market.  OK, a lot of companies are currently insisting their advertising content is Ai free, but how long is that going to last?  People can make their own minds up, but I have a strong feeling that most of the dissenters will eventually quietly climb down from their high horses, and not only start using Ai driven tools, but thoroughly enjoy doing so.

      I am not entirely sure how Generative Fill works in Photoshop, but in Firely, your credits are only deducted if you Download an image.  So if you generate and get three results, if you choose to dl all of them, that's three credits used.

       

      The first part of this video from OFFF in Barcelona this year has some excellent tips on Firefly and Generative Fill. It's where I learned about downloading deducts credits.

        Unfortunately, this is not correct. You are charged a credit when you do the generation. You can download zero, one, two, three, or four images and you will still have been charged one gen credit for the generation. It is the same in Photoshop, one gen credit each time you generate.

        This link takes you right to where they talk about when credits are downloaded.  Like I mentioned, this is with Firefly.  I don't know how it works with Photoshop and Generative Fill.  We get 1000 credits a month with a full subscription, and I don't think I've used more than 50, so I don't check.  If he is definitely putting out incorrect information, you should maybe leave a comment under the video.  It has zero comments as I type this.

        @andyjohn, I am not an Adobe employee, so I cannot comment on rebates. I can only give you my perspective as someone who has used Firefly since day one.  There are two ways to improve results.  The first is to provide feedback on every image that you feel is poor quality. In Photoshop, you do that by hitting the ellipsis on the Gen AI box:

        and then click on "poor" and fill out the feedback box:

        I have seen improvements from things I have submitted.

         

        The second is to work to improve your ability to write the most effective prompts.  A good starting point is this document: Writing effective prompts.

         

        Another suggestion is to use the Firefly Discord if you need suggestions on how to write a specific prompt or learn from others as they develop better prompts.  The Firefly-Workshop channel on the Discord is a good place for that kind of help or exchange of ideas.
