Photoshop AI is not working

I can't use generative AI with my Photoshop v26.11 today. Every time when I try to generate or remove something, it keeps saying 'We've encountered an issue and can't complete your request at this time. Please try again later'. My collegue's Photoshop has had the same problem. Anyone knows what has caused such issue? It's not the first time but usually it would be back to narmal in less than an hour. But not this time, it hasn't worked for more than six hours already. Pretty frustrating...

Hey, @skillful_elegance2890. Welcome to the Photoshop Community. I reviewed the account you used to log in and found two profiles, one with an active subscription.

There are a few layers to this:

If an IT team manages the device, ensure all the Adobe Network endpoints are whitelisted: https://adobe.ly/3STmkga

You can also try using Photoshop Web (https://adobe.ly/3WkhVFm) on a different/alternate device & internet network to rule out if it's a network issue.

Let me know how it goes. Thanks!

This issue with Photoshop Generative AI (Firefly) not working  showing “We’ve encountered an issue and can’t complete your request at this time”  usually isn’t caused by your computer. It is almost always due to Adobe’s servers being down, overloaded, or undergoing maintenance.

 Why it’s happening
Generative Fill and Remove use Adobe’s online Firefly servers, not your local machine.
When those servers have problems, everyone gets the same error, even if Photoshop itself is working fine.
The fact that your colleague has the same issue strongly indicates a server-side outage, not a local issue.
Adobe has had several similar outages in the past few weeks where:

Generative Fill stops working
Requests time out
“Can’t complete your request” errors appear
It lasts for several hours
It sounds like another temporary Adobe server outage.

What you can try locally (in case it helps)
Even though the main issue is likely Adobe’s servers, try these as they sometimes fix user-side glitches:

1. Sign Out & Sign In Adobe Creative Cloud
Open Creative Cloud desktop app
Click your profile → Sign Out
Sign back in
Restart Photoshop
2. Check if your Adobe ID has Generative AI enabled
Go to:
Photoshop → Help → Check for Updates
Make sure you’re logged in and that your plan supports Firefly features.

3. Clear Photoshop’s generator cache
Go to Settings → Generative AI
Clear history and restart
4. Restart your PC / Mac

 Most importantly: Check Adobe’s status
Photoshop Generative AI relies on Adobe’s cloud.

If the servers are down, you will see outages here:

Adobe Status Page → (Search: “Adobe Status”)
If “Firefly Services” or “Creative Cloud Services” show degraded/major outage, that’s the reason.

exact same issure on my side with the same set up, the AI function does not work at all...

I’m experiencing the same issue. Everything is fully updated and running smoothly on my end, but the new Firefly AI system simply doesn’t work anymore. Regardless of the prompt ,  detailed, minimal, or even just a period ,

the results are completely unrealistic. Changing selections or running at zero doesn’t help. What used to be a quick, two-second fix for subtle, natural edits has become impossible. In some cases, even when selecting skin areas, Photoshop blocks the action entirely and shows a warning about “non-compliance” or “untrusted results.” This isn’t a workflow issue; the problem is clearly with the current Firefly AI implementation in Photoshop.

Maybe this explains a possible system-wide issue:

Hi @LAMY2017 , is it some kind of cyber attack?

I don't have my ear to that rail. The Firefly issue (the issue I think affecting your AI) is on-going.

What exactle is giving you this error?

There is Generitive Fill and Generate Image.  Then you have Select Subject, the Remove tool, and Enhance Detail all use Ai.

Have you tried different prompts?

Does your image have a lot of exposed skin?

Both can lead to error messages that are not as clear as they should be ast to why the Ai decided not to play nicely.

I used Generative Fill and Remove with and without prompts, but both tools just didn't work. The image that I was working on was a watch image.
