Question

photoshop and photoshop beta will not open - error says "could not complete your request because the file was not found"

I have been using Adobe Lightroom, Photoshop and PS Beta on my system for years.

The pc in question is a Ryzen 9 5950x with 64 gigs of ram and an RTX 3080 gfx card.

My system is a windows 11 pc with all the latest updates done and I have uninstalled and reinstalled the adobe creative apps. (lightroom PS and PS beta)

Lightroom will open without any issue from the windows menu or icon on my desktop.

Any attempt to launch any form of photoshop is failing.  I have attempted to open photos from lightroom in photoshop and photoshop beta.  I have attempted to launch from the creative cloud app by clicking open.  I have attempted to open from the windows menus and i have gone into the program files to attempt to launch the .exe from there.  Al attempts to do so respond with same end.

A popup window titled ADOBE PHOTOSHOP with text that says “could not complete your request because the file was not found”.

I have uninstalled and reinstalled.  I have gone into the APPDATA and deleted the folders associated with the problematic apps and rebooted.  Nothing works.

Photoshop is v27.11

Also worth a note is that the creative cloud  program, while being set to open at launch and to close to taskbar is opening at launch but nowhere to be found in the taskbar.

Any assistance is appreciated.  I have projects due and suddenly everything is failing.

Hi, sorry you're hitting this with projects due. For Photoshop failing to launch, the official troubleshooting steps are, in order:

1. Update Photoshop from the Creative Cloud desktop app (go to the Updates section and choose Update next to Photoshop), then restart Photoshop and test.

2. Reset the preferences: quit Photoshop, relaunch it while holding Shift+Ctrl+Alt (Windows), and choose Yes to delete the preference files.

3. Download and install the latest driver for your graphics card from the manufacturer's website, restart the computer, and test again.

4. Hold Shift while launching Photoshop and choose Yes to skip loading optional and third-party plug-ins.

5. Install all available updates via Settings > Windows Update, then restart.

6. Validate your fonts with the system font tool and remove any duplicates.
