Question

Photoshop CC 2014 is MUCH slower than Photoshop CC in a side-by-side comparison.

I can run them side-by-side on the same system and Photoshop CC 2014 is literally 2 times slower when selecting layers, hiding layers and moving vector points in pixel increments.

Anyone having this issue?  I'm on a 2012 Macbook Pro, 8GB of RAM running Mavericks.

Does it not seem that the slowness problem is a Mac problem?  I run Windows and have no problem.  Almost all of those who are reporting slowdown are Mac users. Could it be an Apple OS problem not an Adobe problem?

How is it an Apple OS problem when CC runs fine?

The problem is not with CC but with CC 2014.  If you look back through the thread, Mac users appear to be the ones experiencing the slowdown.

YES .... I didn't even think about posting a movie .. but that is EXACTLY what I was experiencing on my Macbook Pro .... exactly.  THANKS for posting the movies ... hopefully Adobe will see them

And, like I said, I'm not experiencing that on my 2010 MacPro at all, just the NEWER 2012 Macbook Pro.

I've also been experiencing severe performance issues with Photoshop CC 2014. After reading this thread, I increased my Cache levels to 4, restarted Photoshop and voilá - vastly improved performance for everything, particularly the GUI. Hope this helps someone else.  Running MacBook Pro Retina with 16GB RAM.

Cache levels are set to 4 by default. I don't know why you would have anything other than 4 unless you previously manually adjusted it.

If you select the Tall & Thin performance preset, the cache level setting gets set to 2.

I am having massive slow down issues, enough to not use CC 2014 until they are corrected.

    Specs:

    Mavericks

    Mac Pro Late 2013

    6 core

64GB ram, photoshop has 70% ram allocation

Documents with 100s and 1000s of layers are impossible to work with as it lags and beachballs when turning layers on and off, but in CC the same documents run smoothly. I am using CC until this issue is fixed. Shouldn't this have been caught by QA?

I am also experiencing super duper long lag and sometimes full on crashes with Adobe CC 2014. It takes forever to even allow me to try and open a document as after Adobe CC 2014 loads it just sits there not letting me choose / click on any of the menu items. Also another issue I'm having when it does work briefly is that Adobe CC automatically changes my fonts as I'm scrolling through the list of fonts rather than waiting for me to actually click on a font I want to use. This dramatically slows me down.

    I'm running Windows 8.1 professional 64bit

Dell studio XPS i7 processor 2.7Ghz

24GB Ram with 96% allocated in Photoshop

    8MB Cache, 36 History Steps,

3 Scratch disks with plenty of room

Intel 530 - 260GB Solid State Drive for Operating System,  Programs & scratch disk

3TB Toshiba 7200rpm 64mb cache for storage and scratch disk

3TB Seagate External connected via usb 3.0 & used as a Scratch disk

    2TB Seagate External

    2Tb Seagate External

and CS6 and CC were both running extremely smooth before installing the new update for CC 2014

now both CC and CS6 are running slower and CC is almost at a standstill.

I do have a little over 5600 fonts loaded on my system which may cause a bit of a bottleneck when loading but it used to be once it loaded the fonts Photoshop would do fine after that.

I'm currently running a test on my fonts as I noticed one time a bad font set was causing a ton of my problems before in Photoshop CS6.

Just chiming in to join chorus of folks reporting CC 2014 performance issues on Mavericks.

    As a side note:

I initially uninstalled CC in the process of troubleshooting the issue, but ultimately decided I needed to get it back since it worked well, at least.  I cannot believe how difficult it was to figure out how to reinstall it. "Filters & Versions" was impossible to spot.  I searched and searched for a way to get the previous version, both on the site and within the Creative Cloud app.  It was maddening.  Perhaps even more maddening than the original 2014 performance issue.

    Sigh.

Is there really still no fix from Adobe ? Seriously ??? I've tried Photoshop CC 2014 on both Mac and Windows machines (both 4-6 months old) and it performs slower then the 386 I had in the early 90's.

Photoshop CC worked great, Photoshop CC 2014 is sloth SLOW!!!

It has NOTHING to do with user settings or hardware, it's a bug and Adobe needs to stop having their support crew acting like it's the user's machine.

User's who say it's snappy, I highly suggest you try a document with alot of layers (alot of text, 50 mb+), it performs miserably.

I uninstalled Photoshop CC like a dummy because I thought 2014 would perform even better, very big mistake because now I can't get CC back!!!

HOW CAN I GET PHOTOSHOP CC BACK INSTEAD OF THIS BLOATWARE THEY CALL 2014 ???

    Please read the previous posts.

We cannot reproduce this problem so far.

There are a few known slowdowns (auto guides, text layers, wacom drivers) - but most people are not seeing an across the board slowdown like some are reporting here.

Adam has been trying to get information from people seeing a slowdown - but so far we still cannot reproduce the problem.

We are still investigating and trying to see if we can find why some people are seeing a slowdown when most are not.  (which also means it is much less likely to be a bug, unless it is triggered by something specific to only a few machines)

I observe the same issue with PS CC 2014 on a mavericks iMac. i mainly recognize it when switch on/off visibility of layers. The change is visible only after one second or so. Anyhow, when switching off histogram view, it's pretty much instantly refreshing. Maybe this can be of any help.
