Photoshop CC 2015.5 Crashes After Launch - Win8.1

Just upgraded to 2015.5. After 1 second OS says Photoshop has stopped working and was closed. Uninstalled and re-installed made no difference. All other upgraded apps (Ppro, Prelude, AE, etc) all working ok.

Is there something I should be doing to fix this up, please?

Thanks.

Paul.

I haven't seen this .dll file causing Photoshop to crash before.

Do you have any Program with the name Lavasoft web companion? I think this (Ad-Aware Free Antivirus and Antispyware ( is what you have installed.

So it is safe to uninstall the Program than deleting/renaming the file.

I have confirmed that renaming this dll is what was preventing photoshop

from coming up. I have repeated the exercise several times now. However,

this dll is used by Mozilla Waterfox, which I use extensively. And I

found that Waterfox now has ceased to function. So there. Looks like

until Mozilla or Adobe make changes I would have to remember to rename

the dll when I want to run Photoshop. Back to the good old days!!!!

Same issue here.

Can't work, photoshop it keeps crashing until I change the LavasoftTcpService64.dll to LavasoftTcpService64.bak.

But as has been said above that's a huge problem, cause I can't work with other CC Apps while using photoshop. My workflow use PS, AI, AE, PR, ME...

So.. huge problem here.

Actually, this problem with the LavasoftTcpService64.dll it came out to me with the last windows 10 update this morning.

In addition to what I've already mentioned before, as long as the problematic LavasoftTcpService64.dll active, which means I don't change it to something else like ~LavasoftTcpService64.dll, first I cannot open up Photoshop CC due to the crash, and even Illustrator didn't work and I couldn't do anything, since it simply doesn't accept my command. Also, I realized that the LavasoftTcpService64.dll is very critical when several my programs such as Solid Works and Origin check their license while running. So, literally I am changing this dll file every time when I wanna use the Photoshop and Illustrator in combination with other programs for my work. It's very annoying and I feel very frustrated. I'm using Photoshop CC 2015.5, and Illustrator CC 2015.3 under Windows 8.1 pro. I think these are the latest version.

I've seen other guys have very similar issues with me as well, and definitely Adobe has a problem with this dll file. I really hope that Adobe would provide us a solution for this issue as soon as possible with their upcoming updates.

Sincerely,

Sukho

When I try to go to  Help>System Info Photoshop crashes.  Actually, pretty much clicking on anything causes a crash.

I just wanna share my experience in this issue, since I think this would give Adobe a bit more better perspective of view to solve the problem. I've also got the same issue on launching PS due to the dll, LavasoftTcpService64.dll. As other guys have already figured it out, this dll causes a crash when PS is launching. I just renamed it as LavasoftTcpService64.bak and seemed the problem is solved.

But, just now I've got another issue. I'm also currently using Solid Works for 3D modeling and now this program is crashed with an error saying "it could not find out the license server." So, I just put LavasoftTcpService64.bak back to its original .dll expansion, and Solid Works worked perfectly. I tried to open PS, hoping that the issue I've got was temporary and would have been solved even if I put the dll back in service again, but there was the same issue happened and PS didn't work.

In conclusion, the problematic dll "LavasoftTcpService64.dll" is being used for other programs in Windows to verify their licenses. In my case, it was Solid Works but could be other programs as well. And this dll seems to cause a crash when Adobe PS launches and checks its own license. I think this problem is very critical and must be addressed in upcoming updates as soon as possible, otherwise many users over the world would be forced to change the expansion of "LavasoftTcpService64" every time when they wanna launch different programs. I hope this would provide Adobe a better clue on solving this issue.

Sukho

Hi Tamerbucakl,

Please refer Photoshop crashes with Lavasoft Chrome extension installed and let us know if that helps.

Also, update to the latest version of Photoshop. See Keeping Photoshop Up-To-Date

Hi Akash,

The system said my Nvidia card was current, but I still installed the most recent driver from Nvidia's site.

However, I'm still getting the same crash / crash report.
