Photoshop CC forces me to log in, shows error window, then closes (reference code 213)

I was using Photoshop fine until a few hours ago (on my Mac). I was just editing an image, nothing unusual from what I often do. I tried to open it a short while ago, and it made me log in again, which is weird, because I'm logged into all other Adobe applications on my computer. I logged in, then a window came up which read,

"Sorry, Photoshop CC has encountered an error and needs to close.

"You will not be able to use Photoshop CC at this time. Please contact Customer Support and use the reference code 213 for more information on how to resolve this issue."

Then it had me click "Quit Photoshop CC", and it shut down the application. Trying to use the application just causes this process to repeat. I don't know what I've done to cause this, or what could've changed.

I was using Fuse to make a character, and I was going to take that character into Photoshop and play around with it a bit. I like to illustrate, and I'm experimenting with Fuse as an inspiration tool. I saved my Fuse character to my CC library- could that somehow have stuffed the system up? I doubt it, but I have no clue.

I need to get work done tomorrow, please help me ASAP if you can. Thank you very much.

This is the error I was getting:

See below for my soloution

You will not be able to use Dreamweaver at this time. Please contact Customer Support and use the reference code 213 for more information on how to resolve this issue.

It's a licensing issueI had to open Creative Cloud and reinstall Dreamweaver.

I had recently updated to Windoes 11 which may have caused the issue.

Reinstaling Dreameweaver fixed the problem for me.

Good luck!

I hate Softeare as a service, I miss the good old days when you could just buy a program and install it

on your computer.  It's so frustrating having to put up with flakey licencing issues all the time.

Just got this today.  Restart made it go away.  Also been having the forced sign in every time I luanch adobe software recently.

Seem like I have subscribed to more problems.  Bring back the stand alone product that doesn't randomly change for no friggin reason.

This just happened to me. Was there ever an answer from Adobe? Did it just resolve for everyone on here?

Hi @bwilen, here is the most recent fix report from Adobe I can find so far, from October 19, 2022. Please let us know if the steps outlined fix the problem for you.

Reference code 213 may occur when launching Adobe desktop applications on Windows or macOS. This licensing error occurs because the data stored on the computer is no longer valid.

I was having this issue with M1 Macs after an update. Adobe advised that there was a bug in the update and move to the 2023 version.

Another solution is to make sure you sign in to Creative Cloud before launching the software.

This is happening to me too. This error comes up every time I start an Adobe Application. If I start the application again it works. I've noticed that if I open Creative Cloud first and sign in there all Adobe apps open without this error. The error only seems to appear if i sign in at the Adobe applications.

This occurred a week ago after the Adobe Applications were updated. The error only occurs on M1 Macs, Intel Macs are file.

I have tried the suggested fixes of deleting certs from the keychain and installing Rosetta. I have also reinstalled the Apps and Creative Cloud but it makes no difference 😞

Having the same issue -  PS is completely up to date and everytime I have to sign in now, it gives me the 213 error message and makes me close PS, however,  when I immediately re-open PS it works without issue?  I dont know whats up

so did I.

I've waited for 40mins to get some help from Adobe, but suddenly it worked itself.

UPDATE: It... just resolved itself? I don't know what happened. I'll post in the comments again if the issue... repeats itself, I suppose? All's well that ends well?

Bugger, when did this issue arise for you? Is it exclusively Photoshop which is having this problem on your end?

So it's not just me... How long have you been experiencing this issue? Has it just happened today, and around what time? If you don't mind me asking.
